One Wildly Delicious Keto Wine Punch
You’ll need to use a large pitcher if you plan on making this keto wine punch. Add in one full bottle of red wine (I get my wine from Dry Farm Wines, highly recommended), ¼ cup of brandy, Stevia, orange extract, and the juice from two lemons.
Mix everything together until it’s all well combined and then cover the pitcher with a piece of plastic wrap. You’ll then want to chill your wine punch in the fridge for a minimum of two hours. I usually just prepare it in the evening and then leave it to chill overnight.
When you’re ready to enjoy your wine punch, you’ll definitely want to serve it over ice, along with orange slices and fresh (or frozen if you would prefer) cranberries.
What is Wine Punch Anyway?
Wine punch is simply an alcoholic (or even non-alcoholic in some cases) beverage made out of either red or white wine and fruit (or fruit juice). There are actually all kinds of different ways to make a good keto friendly wine punch. I’ve tried dozens of recipes and I have to admit that this particular recipe is probably the cream of the crop when it comes to keto wine punch!
Is Wine Punch Healthier Than Regular Wine?
Whether or not wine punch is healthier than drinking regular old wine is actually a subject of much debate.
Basically, wine (and red wine in particular) does provide you with some pretty great health benefits when consumed in moderation. There are polyphenols and other compounds found in wine that have proven benefits for your heart health.
With that being said, alcohol is still alcohol, and it can indeed have many damaging health effects if you’re drinking it in excess.
There’s also the fact that all wine converts into sugar. When you’re mixing it with fruit or fruit juices, you could potentially be upping the amount of sugar in your drink by a fairly significant amount.
I would say that regular wine is just a little bit healthier than wine punch, but I think that wine punch definitely takes the edge when it comes to taste!
Does Wine Go Bad?
Wine can indeed go bad. It really all comes down to the quality of the wine, as there are certain makes that can be stored for well over 100 years while maintaining their quality. Other makes? Let’s just say that they don’t last quite so long. This is of course all dependent on the wine being properly bottled and stored. Once opened, you can typically expect a bottle of wine to go bad within a week.
Is Dry or Sweet Wine Better for Making Punch?
In all honesty, I used to prefer to use sweet red wines for making my own wine punch. It just helps to enhance the overall flavor of the punch, especially when mixed with just the right combo of fruit ingredients.
After switching over to the keto diet though, I tend to stick to dry red wines for fairly obvious reasons. If you’re not overly concerned with your carb intake macros, then you’ll be happy to know that both dry and sweet red wine will work equally as well for making wine punch.
