Extra Cheesy Garlic Broccoli Casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Blanch the broccoli in a large pot of well salted boiling water, until barely tender, 2-3 minutes.
  3. Drain well and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet melt the butter over medium heat.
  5. Add the onion and cook until translucent.
  6. Add the bacon and cook until crisp.
  7. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  8. Add the heavy cream and mix to combine.
  9. Add the shredded mozzarella and parmesan and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.
  10. Remove from the heat.
  11. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.
  12. Remove from the heat.
  13. Place the broccoli in a casserole dish.
  14. Pour the bacon-cheese mixture over the broccoli.
  15. Toss to coat.
  16. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  17. Bake in preheated oven for 15 -20 minutes.
  18. Serve warm.
