Is Franz Keto Bread Actually Good for You?

Franz Keto Bread

Bread is a hugely popular staple in Western diets because it’s a convenient and affordable carb source. However, not all are made equal, and most commercial types are loaded with refined sugars, artificial flavors, and preservatives.

For keto dieters, it’s important to find a low-carb alternative that not only tastes good, but also satisfies nutritional requirements as well. Franz Keto Bread is a keto bread that has been increasing in popularity as of late.

But is Franz Keto Bread keto? Let’s take a closer look.

Franz Keto Bread has become popular for a variety of reasons. Here are four of them:

  • Franz Keto Bread is an incredible plant-based, vegan option for keto dieters with 1 gram of net carbs and zero sugars.
  • Tastes good–just like the real thing!
  • Also comes in Hamburger Buns and Hotdog Buns
  • Franz Keto Bread is wonderfully soft, but toasts well on a pan or grill.

Franz Keto Bread Review: How Keto-friendly Is Franz Keto Bread?

Yes, according to the nutrition label, Franz Keto Bread is listed as having zero net carbs because the non-fiber carb is from a sugar alcohol, so it is 100% keto-friendly. However, given that it contains modified wheat starch, it may cause a slight increase in your blood sugar levels.

Depending on how sensitive you are and how low or high your carb threshold is for staying in ketosis, you may want to treat Franz Keto Bread as having very low carbs instead of zero carbs.

Also, make sure to account for the 12 grams of dietary fiber per slice into your daily nutritional requirements. On the keto diet, a higher fiber intake is recommended, but it may take some getting used to if you’re still adjusting.

Two slices of this bread is already a whopping 24 grams of dietary fiber. Considering that some women only require around 21 to 25 grams of dietary fiber per day, 24 grams is a hefty amount.

More is also not better with dietary fiber, so moderation is key as always.

Is Franz Keto Bread Actually Healthy?

Unfortunately, Franz Keto Bread is not ideal due to a few reasons.

The first issue is the presence of wheat gluten. Some keto dieters avoid gluten completely because of gut sensitivity and in an effort to improve their overall wellness.

Another ingredient of concern is soybean oil, which in most cases these days is at least partially hydrogenated. Partially hydrogenated oils have trans fats, which have been linked to a slew of health problems.

Given that there are many ‘clean’ keto bread options on the market, you’re probably better off skipping this one.
